The Reason Why

The reason why I laugh, catch joke, sides splitting,
Belly bus, the table I’m licking,
As I reminisce in days of old,
Stories run through my mind,
Mysteries unfold.

I muse on Your goodness, Your mercy, Your grace,
Plenty times You’ve come through for me
And helped me save face,
Your humour, my it gets me every time,
I tried to go my own way,
But you pulled me back in line.

I laugh when I think of the madness I tried to do,
Thinking I knew it all,
Believing I was almost, if not better than You!
You laughed with me, But told me “I don’t think so!!!”
You are the Almighty God,
The one and only way to go.

The reason why I smile, teeth gleaming ever bright,
I think about those dark sad days
When all was nothing but night.
You came like lightening, quicker than that!
Mowed my problems, see them on the floor there flat.

I smile when I see how you’ve blessed me,
Blessing me deeper still.
My God, can this really be real???

The reason why I cry, eyes red, nose running,
Tissue box full, to the end its coming.
I remember where You brought me from,
Way back down the hill.
Now I’m at the top
Living large, praising Your Name still!!

You could have left me way back when,
Forgot what You created,
But you took me in Your arms,
My sins alleviated.

The reason why I sing “Lord You are my song!!”
You looked passed my foolishness,
Kept no record of my wrongs.

Sweet melodies from Heaven,
Drop down on my head,
Like manna in the desert,
My soul has been fed.

So when you see me mad style,
Totally out of my mind,
Giving praises to my God, the One Divine,
Don’t run for the straight jacket,
Or say I’m ‘Buck wild’,
God says it’s ok,
I am His child.
